I did all right--I am 4-for-4 for the Division Series--my wishes came true!
Angels over Yankees
White Sox over Red Sox
Astros over Braves
Cardinals over Padres
Stay tuned. I am still hoping for a Cardinals/White Sox World Series, but so far, all four teams look pretty evenly matched. Which is good. I hate blowouts in the post-season. Especially because I want every series to go seven games so I get as much baseball as possible. It's a long time from November to March.
At least there is Thanksgiving--probably my favorite holiday, even though it's a fair amount of work. My husband loves to cook, so we always have Thanksgiving at home with friends. I wish we could go straight from Thanksgiving to Spring Training. Skipping Christmas would be fine with me.
I am allergic to winter, even here in the Bay Area, where we don't really have winter. It gets dark too early. Nothing much is happening in the garden. I have to haul the laundry to the laundromat to dry it. It gets dark too early. Sometimes it's cold.
I am sort of looking forward to New Years' Eve, though. I want this year to be OVER! 2005 has been The Year Everyone Died. Aside from various natural disasters, I had to say goodbye to my mother, my Aunt Ruth, and my neighbor of eighteen years. I've had enough for that for a while.
My sister is coming to visit for a week, and we're going up to the Gold Country to scatter the ashes of both our parents. I've never done this before, so I don't really know what to expect. I figure it can go one of two ways: either we'll both dissolve into hysterical tears, or we'll break into hysterical laughter, depending on what happens when we open the boxes and let the ashes go. I have this horrible fear that, just as I commit Dad's ashes to the river, this big gust of wind will come up and, well, you get the idea.
I'll let you know what happens.
